i have elements p on my mac running OS X 10.6.8
my printer is a canon pixma iX6520
the preview is bkanl and the print is blank.
Do i need to install something for the app to talk to the printer?
btw, same problem with an "hp" printer!
To improve your system's performance, use the permissions repair function in Disk Utility:
Applications folder, openUtilities, and then double-click the Disk Utility icon.First Aid tab, and then click Repair Disk Permissions. Disk Utility will reset any files and folders with incorrect settings. You usually can't preview in the OSX window (as opposed to the PSE print window) from PSE and you shouldn't need to. Just pick your paper/ink settings and click print.
However, it sounds to me like a driver problem. You didn't install the driver on the CD that came with the printer, did you?
Can you print from OS X preview app?
I can print from all other apps.
the help i got from calling abobe, got us all the way to loging in as root user, and it worked fine. but when i loged myself back in it did not work.
after an hour she determined that it is a permissions issue.
i already did the permissions repair.
now i was on with apple, and we did it again, and still nothing.
then i got disconnected, for the second time.
way too much time on this.
Is it apple, or is it adbdo.
I did not get a disc with the elements app, i got it frim adobe online.
You should never sign on as the root user except for extreme troubleshooting situations. Root has unlimited access to every file on your computer and while you're logged in that way your computer is very vulnerable--all the files that are normally locked away and not accessible for security can be changed as easily as a photo or a word processing document. You should disable root when you do not need it. I meant create a regular admin account and try. Using root as a regular user is dangerous and not recommended. You can inadvertently trash your system quite easily if you alter or delete the wrong file when logged in as root, and any malware that might normally be harmless because of the basic security protections and sandboxing in the operating system could have a field day if you were to somehow get something.

I spent a few hours on the phone with an apple guy who basiclly fixed the problem. I could actually print from the app, and see it in the preview window.
When we were finished, and I was happy, we left something "indexing" in the psotlight. I do not know what it was, but it had 6 more hours to go, so i left for work.
At 9PM when i got home the indexing was finished, but now the problem is back.I have to save the photo as a jpg, and open with preview, and print it.
Not such a terrible prohlem, except i need to correct the color in the app.
So, I have ordered the PSE10 to do the upgrade. I'm hoping it will fix itself!!
wishfull thinking!
I feel stranded.
I hope it does, but I frankly doubt it. What you are describing is not a known problem with PSE and there is very little difference between PSE 9 and 10. Let us know how it goes. I can't see any reason whatever why spotlight indexing (basically the OS X system search making its database) should have any effect whatever on your ability to print.
