Live data in cs3

Ok, trying to create my first dynamic site with cs3, access 2010,iis7 and framework 4.0.  Managed to create my record sets and they appear on dreamweaver however when I try to input data and press the live data button all that happens is a toolbar appears with a stop and refresh button.  Nothing ont he page changes and my recordset name remains in curly brackets instead of the first record.  No error messages appear. I am saving my pages in asp format and have added the mime type to iis. Feel like this is something simple and I am missing something obvious.  Hope someone out there can help. . .

    Can I ask why you are using ASP in 2012?  That language has been dead for nearly a decade now.

     

    Can you say more about what you are doing when you try to input data?

    Thanks for your reply.  I'm very new to this and following a dreamweaver cs3 for Dummies guide, published in 2007.  After creating the record sets, I selected my data source from the bindings panel and dragged it onto my page.  The name of the dynamic text appears inside curly brackets and is supposed to change into the first record of my database when I press the live data button. Of course this doesn't happen and I have hit a bit of a brick wall.  I have around 300 records in one table and just trying to get something to work.
