illustrator won't preview images

Using Illustrator CS5 (Vers. 15.1)

I opened a illustrator file with a linked jpeg in it.

I updated the jpeg and the new file (working jpeg) didn't preview and at the same other images in that file and basically in every illustrator file i've made stopped to show up. Now I cannot place or update any image links.

I already tried to uninstall (with preferences) the whole illustrator and reinstall it but nothing shows up. Only image I got to preview is a binary coded eps.

Can someone help me please? I'm in a middle of a busy project.

Can you show us a screenshot of the document withthe View Menu expanded?

Show us the layers panel as well, also expanded so we can see the image items in the layers panel.

Off hand i would say you have Outline Preview active and you want Preview command Y or control Y

    Hi,

Have you managed to resolve the issue - I am having the identical problem and can't seem to find any forum posts reporting similar issues except yours?

Illustrator has been working perfectly till now but not one image in my numerous illustrator files are previewing. In outline mode, you can see it shows the image is in the document but can not be viewed. I also can not place images at all.

I am also in the middle of a project and need to resolve this issue

no luck here either. Downloding the CS6 trial to see what happens, then I guess I'll have to purchase Creative Suite earlier than anticipated!

Alright well it seems like I'm having the opposite issue because none of my links are showing up when I use CS6...

If I open them in CS5 they show up fine.

Anyone have a fix for this?

Problem solved! When I started up yesterday, FontXplorer prompted me to install a new plug-in (3.5.0).

I just removed the plug-in and issue has been resolved!

Wow, you mentioned the FontXplorere plug-in (which I just installed today).

I went in and removed the plug-in as well and it solved the issue.

    Damn weird bugs...
