Hi Linda,
I wanted to thank you for the wonderful job you did recreating the glossy vector flag from the original. There's only one problem. I forgot to tell you that I am a newbie. So when you tell me for example "to draw a white vector circle over the flag image, and reduce its opacity slightly to position it", I need to know how to carry out this functions (i.e. what buttons to click). I was able to draw a vector circle by holding down the shift key and using the ellipse tool. However, I did not know how to reduce the opacity to position it.
Also, when you said "clone the circle and hide the clone", I found out how to clone the circle by going to Edit > Clone, but not sure how to hide it.
The areas that I had the most trouble is 06 - 09. (where I have to add highlights). You said unhide the circle clone and reduce its size to around 80% of the original, I'm not sure how to acomplish this task. Can you please show me which buttons to click for 06, 07 and 09.
Thank you
John
Hi John,
The problem I have with giving you exact instruction is that it has been a long time since I've used Fireworks 8. :-) I don't remember which features it had and do not have access to the UI to tell you which buttons to click. Let's try this:
To hide an object, click on the 'eye' icon next to it's thumbnail in the Layers panel. To unhide it, click again on the eye icon.
When an object is selected by clicking on it, you should be able to locate an opacity slider in the Properties inspector.
To reduce the size of an object, first select it. Then you can you can either use the Transform tool to pull on a corner of the object bounding box, or you can select Modify > Transform > Numeric Transform.
If you use the latter method, finish by choosing the Scale option, and change the default 100% to 80%.
