No Break word breaks in InDesign CS5.5

A word breaks without hyphen even it has been given as 'No Break'. Consider the word "2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzodioxin" in the following sentence "negative effects of (in utero) exposure to PCBs and 2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzodioxin (TCDD) on immune-related health". Even that word has been marked as 'No Break', it breaks without any hyphen at the end of the line. If I remove any one letter from it, then the No Break option works. Is it something related to number of character or a bug in InDesign?

    @Lucky Siva – after testing, I cannot confirm that. Can you provide a IDML file for downloading? Or a screen grab of your situation?
    How is your paragraph style defined?.


    Do you have the latest version of InDesign CS5.5 (v7.5.3) ?

    Hi Laubender, thanks for the reply. I have a problem in creating idml file, so I have placed a screen shot of it. Please look into it.

    Sorry. But this in not enough to detect the problem.

     

    What is your problem with IDML?

    You can go to "Export…" and choose "InDesign Markup (IDML)" as export format. Upload that file to a public file server and provide a download URL for further testing.

     

    And how about the other answers to my questions?
    Are you on the latest InDesign CS5.5 which is v7.5.3. You can check for that, if you choose "About InDesign".

     

    As I can see you are on MS Windows, so maybe it's a problem with the Windows version of InDesign…

     

    //EDIT: I tested on InDesign CS5.5 on Mac OSX 10.6.8

    Hi,

     

    I have uploaded the idml file in the below mentioned public file server. The problem with the idml is I cannot open it again. You please try it. I have checked the file in Mac too, but no solution.

    And, now I have updated my InDesign CS5.5 to v7.5.3. But, it also has the same problem.

    Oops – the IDML file you provided crashes my Indesign CS5.5 without warning…

     

    I have to investigate that…

    Hm. Then provide the indd file packaged in a zip-archive…
    Something is deeply wrong with that file…

    @Lucky Siva – I cannot exactly pinpoint the problem (I do not use the same fonts like you).

     

    But as I can see from your InDesign file, "No Break" is applied only to a part of the expression "2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzodioxin": "8-tetrachlorodibenzodioxin".


    If I apply it to the whole expression ("2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzodioxin"), it is working as expected.

    And: I can export to IDML, but opening that file will crash InDesign CS5.5 again…

    This file has a long history: started out as an InDesign CS3 file, opened and worked on in InDesign CS5, then on in CS5.5. Maybe parts of it went corrupt in the process.

     

    Maybe you can start again with an INX export file from CS3 opened directly in CS5.5 v7.5.3 to cure the problems.

    But you might have invested a lot of work that would be lost, if you do so…

    Yes you are correct. So, I have to correct my to tool in such a way to apply "No Break" to the whole expression. Thanks much for spending your time. May I know how did you find out the history of an InDesign file?

    On a Mac hold the cmd key and open the "About InDesign" menu. On MS Windows it should work similar (strg key?).
