Direct Selection Tool

with practice over the last week, I've gotten pretty good at using the pen tool to make selections…

I was wondering, when I go to use the direct selection tool to refine my curves…

The pointers sometimes get in the way when I'm trying to be as precise as possible when I want to refine my curves…

Is there a shortcut key that I could press to hide the pointers while I am trying to place my curves?

    Could you post a screenshot?

Do you use the qualifier keys to temporarily use the Direct Selection Tool while working with the Pen Tool?

Thanks for the video, but I’m not sure I get the issue.

Have you tried setting Preverences > Cursors > Other Cursors to »Precise«?

Don't feel bad, when editing paths I often grab the wrong things as well.  It's an operation that seems to need uncommon precision.

Zooming in can sometimes help - though the little handles remain tiny, the little bezier curves handles do get spread out and away from the anchor point handle.

Hopefully pfaffenbichler and Noel's answers can help you out. Currently there is no option for hiding the pointer while using the direct selection tool.
