Manipulate Indesign(client) from a Java application

Hello, I need to manipulate Indesign client(open/close documents, create menus, tables, set colors etc... ) but I need to do that from a Java application. Is it possible? I was searching on google about it, even in Adobe's site, but the only way I found was thought Javascript, VbScript or AppleScript.

    I believe that would violate the licence agreement since effectively you are making indesign client into a server application.

    Hello Ian, Thanks for replying!

    Well, I dont believe that would violate the licence agreement, because I can to it with Javascript for exemple. What I just wanna do is to do the same thing that a Javascript can do, but instead using a Javascript use Java.

    You can do that in java by using jacob/com4j library which uses the COM interface. If you use com4j then you have to generate the java stubs using the .tlb file of Indesign.

    Hello swarup83!

     

    I wanna do that on Indesign desktop, not the server. Are you sure that using jacob/com4j will solve my problem??

    Yes I am sure. I would suggest you to go for com4j. Once you create the java stubs from the .tlb file of indesign you will get hold of the indesign classes in java. Then you can do all Indesign API calls from java.

    Thanks for your replying swarup83! Well, I'm trying to implement like you said. I started with com4j, but I'm getting some erros, so I will try Jacob too.Just one thing : this .tlb file from Indesign that you mentioned about. I was not able to find! I make a search in my whole operation system and I didnt find any .tlb file. Where can I find it?
