Adobe licensing - retail vs. commercial use

Hi all

Long time reader, first time poster.

I hope this is the right area to ask this question - what would stop me buying a cheap copy of Creative Suite 5.5 and using it in my commercial environment? I am sure there must be a legal term withiin the EULA that prevents this?

Can someone help? I am in the UK btw, so not sure if the rules change via region

Thanks in advance

Tony B

AFAIK, the retail version allows two copies to be installed and activated.  The volume licensed version allows for many installations, as per your volume licence agreement.

It's only the Educational Versions that should not be used for commercial purposes.

    BigJohnD,

Wish that I could find the bookmark with the date that the "no commercial use" provision was removed from the EULA of the "educational" versions. My guess would be about 7 years ago, but could be off by a few years.

The only limitations of the "educational" versions (now I believe that there are two separate ones), are that one does not have the traditional upgrade path, but the price is such, that the cost to buy (where fully qualified) is about the same AS an upgrade.

I believe that there are some limitations on Library content in a few of the programs included in the suites.

    Good luck to the OP,

    Hunt

I have an Educational version of CS2 somewhere - if I can find the time, I see if I can lift out the licence document.
