Import wav

We have a narration and we need to synchronize our animations to the sound. I wanted to import in wav so I could have the best quality possible. But strangely, the speaker icon doesn't even appear on the timeline! It seems to not even recognize it as a sound. When I double-click on my file in the library, I can't have a preview of that file : it's just blank.

 

Outside after effects the sound works just fine.

 

What might be the problem here?

    What kind of .wav file? There are a bunch of compression and bit depth options. More specifics about your system and your sound files would help. It would also help to know how you created your sound file and whether or not you can play it back in QT or other player.

    My wav files are 44 100 Hz, 16 bit.

    Working on PC, XP, CS4.

     

    Am I forgetting an important info?

    Oh and it plays just fine on QT player and WM player.

    You should have no problems with the wav files. Have you tried a reboot???

    What is the source of the file? If it was created in a professional audio mixing app, it may have metadata and invisible extra tracks that throw AE off...

    I work with sonic foundry soundforge. I tried saving the .wav I created in soundbooth (still in .wav format) and now it works! I suppose it's less compatible with soundforge than soundbooth since it's not in the adobe software family. I don't know... Anyway it seems to works now.
