Publish Folio from own server

Jul 26, 2012 12:06 PM

Apologies if this question has been asked before (cant find any reference to it on the discussion board) but is it possible to publish the Folio's from your own server rather than Adobes? And if not, do Adobe plan to allow this flexibility in the future?

Yes, hosting and delivering folios from your own server is possible with Enterprise edition of DPS. Learn more Enterprise features about direct entitlement, custom storefront etc....at http://www.adobe.com/devnet/digitalpublishingsuite.html

Clarification: With custom entitlement servers, the folios are still downloaded from the Adobe Distribution Service(server). Enterprise customers can handle their own entitlement, but folios are not stored on your own servers.

Currently this is not possible and I do not think that there are any current plans to implement this in near future. When you are paying for the service, Adobe hosts your Folios and you get a systematic service to publish and distribute your content.

If you have Enterprise account, you can use direct Entitlement to get your print subscribers free access to your Digital magazine so that they sign in to your server and get acess to the folios they are entitled to.

...many companies, even publishers, are asking for this functionality.

Anselm and I recently attended a wood wing next wave publishing tour and

there was a big corporate publishers in the automonile industry who wants

to push internal and highly restricted information to the employees iPads.

this information is not allowed to leave the closed computer circuit via

    the internet.

you see these requests all over the place.

preview on device is not an option because

    A) it is not working on windows

    B) requires the ipads to be physically connected

    C) nobody on corporate level cares about Android.

this option would be a great deal for many enterprise customers, that would

    even buy the enterprise package.

are there no plans from the adobe dps product team to enable this with a

    integrated system for enterprise customers?
