Why is it that when we use the following URL:
https://www.facebook.com/kelleydirect/?m2w
...in a web overlay (with the intention of circumventing the redirect to the facebook mobile site) yields the error,"The page you requested was not found". Put this URL in a desktop browser and it resolves fine.
Any ideas why this error occurs in the DPS browser?
Also, any workarounds to preventing the redirect to the mobile site?
Thanks,
-Mark
You are getting this because the site is redirecting the DPS browser to a mobile site, which is not allowed by DPS. You need to find the mobile version of any site that you are linking to, and use that link.
In this case the link is: https://m.facebook.com/kelleydirect?_rdr.
Neither answers are exceptable to our client - they will simply ask, "then why is it possible to use that URL in the regular browser on the iPad?"
Alec - with all due respect, I dont believe you understand the question. Please reread your response, "You are getting this because the site is redirecting the DPS browser to a mobile site, which is not allowed by DPS." DPS doesn't allow a redirect to a mobile site??? That is in fact what is happening, but we are trying to prevent the redirect and use the regular site instead.
The regular facebook site looks fine on the ipad and there's no sensible reason why the DPS browser should be any different.
Please consider this a feature request. DPS broswer *should* allow it - or at least make this a user configurable option.
Alternatively, is there a way to force a DPS web overlay link button to launch the native ipad browser instead?

I appreciate the suggestions.
Regardless, log this feature request:
Please add the ability as a user-configurable option/checkbox - "DPS hyperlink options - use mobile version of URL if available" or "DPS hyperlink options - Prevent URL redirect to mobile version". Digital tablets in general have ample screen resolution to view non-mobile sites.
If I should be posting my feature request somwhere else, please let me know.
