Need work around for no UPS or USPS insurance integration

Because Shipping integration does not pull insurance rate based on declared value for UPS and USPS, can we add a percentage of the item price either in a handling fee or an extra field in the shopping cart?

I  and am looking for a creative work around.  My client has 3 jewelry stores and they ship items that need insurance added based on the price of the item.  A percentage of the total item cost would probably work either in a custom field or handling fee field within the shopping cart.  I only see entry for a dollar figure.

 

Anyone have a new way of looking at this?

    Hi Nancy,

     

    Unfortunately there's no other way around this within the system. 

     

    We only offer the option to add "additional handling fee" as you've noted which requires a dollar value and not based off percentage.  I'm afraid we do not have a workaround for this specific request at this stage.
