Link Trouble

Jul 27, 2012 1:45 PM

Tags: #cs4 #dreamweaver #links

I just built a site using Dreamweaver CS4. I uploaded it today and the sidebar (sitemap) isn't working. When you click on one of the links, the whole sidebar moves down and reveals more of the header. The page doesn't change either. I have checked for bad links, but it shows that there aren't any. I am lost. Please help! If it helps to see the problem for yourself, the address is www.stonepizzarockhill.com . Thank you!

    FRAMES!  Yikes.   Don't use Frames/framesets.  They cause more problems than you know.

    HTML5 no longer supports Frames.

    Better Choice: look at F1 Help on the use of Dreamweaver Templates (.dwt) or Server-side Includes.

    Nobody can fix this. The only solution is to ditch the dreaded Frames.  Copy & paste your sidebar and menu code into each of your body pages.

    Good luck!

    No need to panic here, you do not have to scrap any of the content you built;

    you can use it all except the frames structure

    I suggest you use SSI (server side includes) for the repetitive elements on your pages like headers, menus and footers.

    Your site is small enough, you could put all your content on one page like this (view source in browser to see the CSS & HTML code).
