Photoshop CS5 "help access"

Jul 29, 2012 8:42 AM

I have an iMac running OS Lion.  System purchased in Dec, 2011. Yesterday I updated Safari to latest version released this past week from Apple at the same time as the Mountain Lion OS.  I have Photoshop CS5 Extended on this computer.  Now when I open PS, with nothing else running, and click "Help" on the Photoshop file menu bar I can only receive information relating to the iMac operation system using the "search" option.  Example: When I select Help and type "tools" in the search field I see "menu" items relating to tools in PS but the "help topics" only shows topics relation to OS Lion, like "Customize the Finder Toolbar"  Anyone have any thoughts as to why I cannot access the help manual for PS?

Adobe don't provide Photoshop documentation in the format which is accessed by the OS X Help system.

There are PDFs and online help.

Here's your OS X Help search for "tools" when using CS5.1 on OS X 10.6.8. I'd expect to see very similar on 10.8.

You should be able to get online help

Did it work before updating to moutain lion and safari's latest version?

Did you manually open the cs5 help application and check your preferences and whether the content is still there?

I don't know about mac when using cs5, but on windows you can choose to have photoshop cs5 help open in your browser or the community help application, online or offline.

I've heard of several bugs in the new safari, so maybe it's related to having the new version of safari.
