Adobe Community: Forum Improvement? Is this a Good Idea?

I agree with the poster there that it should not be overdone. I prefer too little information some of the time over too much information all the time, because the latter would take up even more valuable space and add to the clutter (that is also why I suggest their being placed at the top of each forum rather than in connexion with each New Dsicussion).

But sometimes it is needed.

As far as I remember, we did have such links in the past, so it would be a definite forum improvement to get them back.

I actually participate in a few other forums and part of the forum requires that you define your specs system, platform, hardware resources and some other things like what cameras you use.

You only fill it out once but when you update your system you simply change the profile.

In rthat forum there isa techanical need for doing this and they are a little more thorough but it is a good model that the users indicated when the enroll as a participant that their specs be made available.

A simple click on the name woud bring up their profile including all their specs and even if they forget to give it out there it is so we are not guessing.

That would save clutter though in the Forum that does do this they make the specs avaialbe with the initial post. Youy aalways know if the post is relevant to your system and platform.

I like the idea of having all the info in our profile, having to enter it everytime one starts a new post could get tiring...

You are correct about that but there should be a way to list more information in a formatted manner in this other forum they ask specific questions and list all the possibilities with drop downs with all the options you can choose from. Pretty handy.

I notice that not too many people bother to fill that out.

And I notice that you did not fill it out as well.

I think it would be good to have the listing of items and haev them in the message compsing window because if the person is looking for help it will be much more obvious to them that they have to give some idea about what their resourrces are so they can get help of course it is true most people who ccome to the forum really do not want help they want to rant in one form or another.

But for those who do not know this would at least give them a clue.

I put some fundamentals of info of apps and tools I work with in my profile. I wish that Adobe provide some more room in different catorgies, then it would be perfect to illustrate more specific info.

The info in my profile is not suffice, no? Tell me why you think my info is not suffice. Tell me about it.

As it appears from the hread linked to in the first post, the Forum Guidelines including Best Practices now has a more prominent position just above Actions on the Forum overview page:
