I'm sure this has been mentioned before, but email access to these forums (I use mainly the InDesign forums) is poorly supported. Often trying to replay via email results in a blank post. Also, questions posed via email cannot be marked as answered.
If you know of anything I can do to improve the user experience on my end, I would be happy to know what it is.
Thanks.
Ariel
Windows 7 Ultimate, 6GB, with Mozilla Thunderbird for the emailing, and usually IE for browsing.
I haven't seen the issue of blank posts when replying via email (I am replying to this via email). Can you give us steps to reliably reproduce or examples of email replies that came through blank to see if there might be something in the email (formatting, quoting the previous message, etc.) that might be causing the text to be lost?
Thanks!
I've got to break for Sabbath, but here's quicky...
For this response I clicked on "reply", deleted everything in the
message, and wrote. This usually works.
In this next response, I will click on "reply all". That usually results
in a blank post.
In the response after that, I will click on "reply", but not delete the
quoted message. That usually also results in a blank post.
Thanks,
Ariel
"Reply" versus "Reply All" are functions of your email software.
The forum software has almost no control over what they do.
It sounds like your software is ignoring the Reply-To field in the
"Reply All" case, which is not standards-conformant behavior.
What is your email software?
And what is the destination address of the email-in-composition after you hit "Reply All" before you hit "Send"?

That is actually good! You don't believe how many times a day moderators have to remove email addresses from message headers that are sent back to the forum.
Hi John,
I think I mentioned in the first post that my email software is Thunderbird.
When I hit reply all, the to field gets this:
jive-173016092-8oam-2-2q8lc@mail.forums.adobe.com and a cc field gets:
John Hawkinson <forums@adobe.com>
Thanks,
Ariel
