photo based pattern in perspective

I am drawing a house in perspective, and I have a photo of shingles. I used "Image Trace" to convert the raster image of the shingles to vector, and made a new pattern with it, but I can't get that pattern to appear in perspective on the grid. Thoughts?

In order to get a pattern to adapt to a perspective you need to either expand it or use an envelope to distort it

thank you for your help... could you elaborate a bit more on how to expand or use envelope distortion? I'm still having difficulty.
