How do I run Flash audio through a Digital Room Correction FIR filter?

Jul 31, 2012 4:55 PM

I am using Win 7-64 and Firefox with Adobe Flash Player plugin.  I'd like to run Flash audio from online sources (e.g. Hulu) through a real-time Digital Room Correction FIR filter before it goes to the audio card output.  I'm willing to purchase software to make this happen.  I've tried Ableton Live with Jack without success (Ableton Live requires an ASIO driver for real-time filtering of audio and I can't make the Flash plugin for Firefox show up as an "output" within Jack because I have no way of changing the output device to Jack within the Flash Player).

Within previous versions of Windows, I think I remember having the option to choose "Jack" as my default audio device (assuming Jack is installed) and, once this was done, I could intercept any audio destined for output to the speakers and route it however I wanted.  With Win 7, it appears Microsoft has removed this functionality (various forums suggest it can still be done, but would now require editing of the registry each time I wanted to change the default audio device to/from Jack).  For obvious reasons, I don't want to have to edit the registry each time I want to run Flash audio through Jack.

Has anyone done this within Win 7?  If Win 7 is out of the question, I'm also willing to pursue a Linux solution, but am faced with the same problem of being unable to change the output device within the Flash Player plugin to Jack and I am unaware of VST plugins that will work under Linux.

Any advice??

Thanks!
