Robohelp 8 and Roboserver 9 "Missing Content"

Jul 31, 2012 1:04 PM

Hello everyone,

I am currently using robohelp 8 and roboserver 9, I have all my book s and pages filled out with content. When I actually load it up to see it online for some reason there is one blank page on the topic that I have filled out that is missing content. If I check it back out to robohelp8 I can see all the content that is on that page. All the other pages have content but just that one page is missing content. Can anyone clarify why this is happening and what is the solution to this?

Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi

When you say "missing content", do you mean the entire page is blank, or just part of it. Perhaps you have a conditional build tag assigned to part of the content and you Excluded this tag in the publishing process? Was a "Snippet" used in the topic with the missing content? Maybe something happened to the Snippet content?

This is a long shot, but just to be sure, in RoboHelp, go to the topic that shows up missing. Right click and look at Properties. Make sure the file name (not the title) does not have any strange characters. No %$#@!*& etc. Only alphanumeric characters, dashes or underscores are allowed.

When you say "see it online" do you mean you have published it to the RoboHelp Server 9 and you are viewing it from the server and not from a "local" hard drive?

I'm still not clear what you are describing but try these items out first and let us know.

    Thanks

    john

Just so we are clear, the content is there in your generated output but not when it is published to the server? Also it only ever happens if the topic is the first page in a book? What happens if you move that topic to elesewhere in the book? Finally can you tell us what is inside the topic (e.g. text, image, .SWF file, etc.)
