How to open pdfs associated with old virtual Microsoft PC & clean up

Recently bought a new iMac 10.7.4. All my old Adobe Reader files are associated with a virtual Micsoft PC installed on my old computer for access to MS Office. Now, I can't get any of my Adobe files to open, even uninstall so I can wipe my computer clean and start over. When I tried to download flash plalyer, same problems. Any soluctions? Thanks

I've moved your question to the Adobe Reader forum for best response.

Do you have your PDF files in your new hard disk? I don't understand the "associated with old Virtual PC" part.

This part I understand even less; please explain exactly what you mean.

Files on a Mac have many different ways to set the file to ensure it is opened the way you wish. If you select a pdf file, then choose Get Info from the File Menu (command-I), you will get the choice to change the application you want to open the file with. Change the application to Adobe Reader then click the Change All button.

In my example, above the default choice is Adobe Acrobat, not Adobe Reader.
