Hi there. I am using Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5 in Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. I recently went to a convention with and got a ton of footage with my JVC GY HM150. Now I'm back and trying to edit but when I try to import the MP4 it only shows it as audio and is shows to be an audio file. I have updated Premiere, Media Encoder and quicktime but to no avail. Also for some reason quicktime can't open the file but I know the file good cause VLC can play it with no prob. I know from the instruction book that it encodes in a 35 Mbps (Max) MPEG2 Long GOP VBR. This really pisses me off cause one of the main things about this camera was the ease to import and edit footage.
Yeah about that I kinda had a lot of footage over those 3 days at a hotel and only copied the MP4 containing folders and even some just the Mp4 files themselves to my laptop I had at the time before I moved them to my main desktop when I got home. Now having said that I just did a test film and copied the entire contents of the card, used the media browser and it didn't work either still just audio. If you don't mind me asking why would it matter copying the entire contents. Isn't the other files just for the camera to operate and if I can play the MP4 itself with video and audio in VLC doesn't that mean that it's probably a codec issue in premiere.
Report back with the codec details of your file, use the programs below... a screen shot works well to SHOW people what you are doing
