After Effects CS6 Crash On Startup

I open a project or open the app by itself, the splash comes up, then it crashes with no error message. "After Effects closed unexpectedly."

 

I uninstalled and reinstalled, but to no avail.

 

MacBook Pro

Mountain Lion

 

Anyone know anything or experiencing similar problems?

    Yes, here you go:

     

    After Effects CS6 with the 11.0 update

    I am up-to-date.

    Mac OS X 10.8

    No error message from AE, just the default "After Effects quit unexpectedly."

    Happens every time I try to open the program, whether by opening a project or clicking the icon.

    Only Chrome was running when I tried, so I quit Chrome and the same thing happened. Also I restarted my computer.

    I've used AE a lot on 10.6, not yet on 10.8

    No third-party stuff.

     

    2.66 GHz Intel Core i7

    4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3

    Which video card in installed?

    Also, did this ever work?

    NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M 512 MB

     

    It worked on this machine, yes (OS X 10.6). This is the first time I've been trying to open it on Mountain Lion (OS X 10.8).

    Did you do a clean install of ML?  Are there any other programs that were loaded before installing and launching AE?

    Yes, it's a clean, legal version. No programs were open.

     

    I found out that Premiere is also doing something similar. It freezes at the splash screen but doesn't crash.

     

    Photoshop, Lightroom, and Illustrator all work.

    Go to Nvidia's site to make sure you have the most recent version of the video card driver.

     

    And, I was checking to see if you installed any other programs, regardless of them running.  Installing some software can block our ability to initialize. 

     

    One last thing for this post - when the splash screen comes up, what is the very last thing that comes up as loading or initializing before it crashes?

    I've installed lots of other programs, so I don't know what to say there. A full list would be overkill, I think.

     

     

    Nothing loads on the splash screen. That's another odd thing. It doesn't even get that far.

    I'm also not finding anything compatible with my setup on NVIDIA.

    Have you tried running the terminal commands to see if your card is listed? If it's not there are instructions on how to add it to the list. Youll find instructions here.
