Hello,
i'm using lightroom 4.1 x64 under control of windows 7 64 bit. all my videos (.mov) imported to lightroom have no sound when playing them in ligfhtroom 4.1. outside lightroom these videos do have sound very well.
is there any solution for this problem??? what can be done to enable lightroom 4.1 to play theses videos with proper sound???
Did anyone experience this problem and knows how to solve it?
please help me and send an answer to my mail-address.
thank you
Hallo,
"Regards from Germany" lead me to the assumption that you are also german. so please apologize when i switch over to german for a while.
"ebenfalls from good old germany".

It seems to be a bug in LR. When you search here in the forum you'll find some posts about that.
I have the same problem with mts - files and I'll hope they will fix it soon.

Translation (because it's a English spoken forum)
I don't have reported the bug to Adobe, because I use Lightroom nearly exclusive for pictures. In this thread (http://forums.adobe.com/message/4265926#4265926), answer 5 you can see the the bug is already reported to Abobe.

There is a solution to the missing sound problem:
today i was calling Adobe's support center. a friendly support engineer guided me through some operations interactively on the phone. at first none of these operations did resolve the missing sound problem (at my video clips previously imported to lightroom 4).
then he asked me to create a new windows 7 user and assigning administrator privileges. i told him that the user i was using all time had already administrator privileges assigned to since the time i created this user halfe a year ago. but anyway he asked me to create this new user. i followed his advise and created a new administrator user which i called TEST (nice name isn't it). then i logged on to this new user and started lightroom again accessing one of my existing video clips and i was completely surprised that all my former problematic video clips were playing brilliant sound now. this is a great success.
i am happy and very thankful to Adobe's support. and i hope that many other lightroom-4 users will read this article and will take advantage of it helping them to overcome this sound problem also, even when i do not know exactly what detailed element or circumstance in conjunction with a windows 7 user account may have been responsible for the malfunction as i experienced it.
Ok, so what... one can not understand all miracles in our world.
kind regards and good luck.

OK. But,... for me is this only the half of the truth.
You have create a new user and the it works. What is when you logged in with the previous user? Do you have sound too?
Axel
Hallo,
when i logon to the "old" user (which i did) after i have seen that the problem disappears with the new user, then the old user still has the problem. one can also say, that the old user does not forget this problem, regardless that there is a new user which can operate without any video-sound-problems within lightroom 4. it seems to me that these two users don't care of each other ... or vice versa. So i will not logon to the old user any longer and will use the new user only. i assigned all settings and user-program-definitions from the old user to the new user and this works with the new user.
by the way... not i found this solution, but the support engineer from adobe. i followed his advises only and nothing more. ofcourse you are absolutely right... this "solution" is more some kind of a "workaround" or "by-pass" than a real solution, no doubt.
but at the moment it is definitely a way or a method to overcome this curious sound problem in lighroom 4, and right now it seems to be the only way to eliminate this problem (at least as far as i know).
what will i do next? i will observ the new constellation a few days and after a while when everything works correct then i will eliminate the old user completely so that my installation does not know that there was a not proper working user any time before... and then i will backup the system again in order to prevent any potential problems from this side at least.
best regards
Günther

I've tested the solution yesterday in the evening and.... it doesn't work for me.
I'll think this is a bug and the workaround from the support can be solved the issue, but it's working not on each PC.
BTW: I worked with AVCHD files. Maybe that's the problem the solution doesn't work.
At the moment I can live with this situation and I'll hope Adobe will fix it soon.

Hello,
today i had the idea to check if a re-installation of Lightroom 4 would eventually solve this problem also. at first i recovered my windows system, which means that i braught my windows system into the status which it had before i detected this problem (my old user... and lightroom 4.1). then i de-installed lightroom 4.1 and made a re-installation of version 4.0 and after that everything was working perfect!!! all my video clips had brilliant sound!!!
but after i performed the next step and installed the update from version 4.0 to version 4.1 the old problem was back again. and this shows me without any doubt that it is definitely a problem coming from the 4.1-update, and it has nothing to do with any potential malfunction of my windows-7-user-account.
I reported my findings to Adobe again by phone and the support engineer asked me to do a last try: he asked me to re-install the actual version of quicktime (version 7.7.2) because he assumes that the problem has eventually anything to do with a wrong or obsolete codec or something like that. so i did him this "favor" (you don't know me... but i'm a great gentleman lol), but again there was no positiv result. So now i will re-install version 4.0 of lightroom, because this version runs fine. the functionality of the 4.1-update as Adobe describes it is not so important and useful for me. and i hope that Adobe will fix the sound problem in the near future and will come up with a bug fix (but one that really works and does not generate new unexpected problems)... maybe a proper working version 4.2 !?!?
kind regards
Günther
