I am running a very OLD version of Dreamweaver to run my website (MX, 6.0). It works perfectly well on my MacBookPro using OSX 6.8. However, I wanted upgrade to the newest version of the Mac OS, and I believe that my decade old Dreamweaver will no longer function. Is there a way to upgrade it so I can use it with the latest OS? As you may have guessed, I am a neophyte, so I will need very specific instructions. And of course, I need to upgrade to a version of Dreamweaver that I can still use! As of now, I just cut and paste the HTML code and then change the text as necessary. Slow, but works fine. So whatever the new version of Dreamweaver is, I would need to be able to actually use it...
There is no "upgrade" available for DMX (version 6). You will have to purchase a new version and install it. Once the new version is installed, you can uninstall the DMX (or not - there's no harm in leaving it installed). All versions of Dreamweaver install as separate apps anyhow.
Thank you for the answer, I need to clarify my question: I need to continue running and updating my website. So how do I do that using my old Dreamweaver MX 6.0 files, with a new version of Dreamweaver that will operate on the latest Mac OSX?
Are those files for this website on the computer that will be running the new OS? Were these files created on this computer with DMX? Were you operating out of a site defined in DMX when you created the files originally? If all of these are "YES" then when you install the new version of DW, it will find the old sites you have on this computer and add them to its list of sites. Then, when you start the new DW, you will be able to immediately select one of these sites (assuming you have more than one) and begin editing the files within that local site. In addition, your Remote site connection information will also be migrated forward, so you shouldn't have to re-enter that.
WARNING - the new DW is VERY VERY different from the antique version you were running (as is the web itself). Methods, approaches, and skills have changed significantly since DMX was released. Further, the new DW will 'expect' you to bring a fair amount of familiarity with HTML and CSS to the table. Without that familiarity, you will experience quite a struggle....
