animating outline of circle with rounded end...

Aug 2, 2012 6:54 AM

Hi there - bit of a basic questions Im guessing, but does anyone know of animating a circular outline whilst keeping its end circular?

eg. as if its a circular loading bar filling up.  The closest ive come to achieving it is using the circular primitive tool in flash and keyframing its radius over multiple frames, but it doesnt animate very smoothly at the end

any help much appreciated!!

Nick

Anything from circular shape layers with a Trim Paths modifier to conventional masks with stroke effects to an ordinary radial wipe - that is if you really mean AE, not Flash. Anyway, those are basics, so by all means read the help and watch a tutorial. You don't seem to have explored the programs capabilities even the tiniest bit...

Create the circle as a mask on on a solid. Then apply effect>generate>stroke.

Animate to start or endpoint and adjust the width. Select paint on transparent. That should do it.
