Can not view image at full size when in liquify. e.g. the image is much smaller when you select liquify and when you enlarge it it pixelates. Is there a adjust or is something wrong with my Elements?
Thanks!
I am aware of this. My problem is that the image size will not magnify to the actual 100% in Liquify. The dialog box will show 100% but the image will be to small to work on and when magnified it pixelates. Strange thing is that it shows the correct size in the filter gallery. Thanks for trying!
The problem is that elements uses a modified version of liquify from the photoshop 7 era (2002 or there abouts) (on the windows versions, it may be the same on mac versions as well)
and that version didn't show zooming in actual pixels either.
That would be an excellent feature request that you could post over here:
The zoom function works, but is not zooming the actual image pixel for pixel, but i believe uses a low resolution preview of the image.
You can see the difference Odd James is talking about by comparing the way the Correct Camera Distortion filter works versus the Liquify filter.
(the default photoshop elements versions of those filters)
I'm not sure, but there is probably an upper limit to the size of file that Liquify can handle, everything above that get's proxied.
How large are these files that you are working with? I just tested with a couple decent sized file (certainly not the largest I have on hand, but they included grids so it was easy to compare) and the size is the same.
Yes it's most noticable on files such as camera raw files with larger pixel dimensions.
If you take a file of say 6144 pixels x 4085 pixels and open in the liquify filter, you see the zooming is clearly not showing the actual image
size in relation to the zoom percent shown at the bottom left of the pse liquify dialog.
100% view in the pse liquify filter is not the same 100% view in the editor. (actual pixels).
That is cetainly a built limitation of the version 7 liquify on which i believe the pse version of liquify is based, but more recent versions of the
liquify in photoshop from cs up showed the actual size of the image inside the liquify dialog without the pixelated look one gets in the pse version.
Thanks everyone! If this is the case, PSE10 is flawed. I wanted to open a lazy eye but can't see it in this reduced state. The files are relatively small 12 MP jpegs, roughly 4000 x 3000. The strange thing is that the first time I open PSE 10, I thought it was showing the full resolution in Liquify window. Was it just my imagination. : (
Thank R_Kelly! You have been most helpful.
I posted a complaint / request as you suggested over at the Photoshop Family.
I was with Adobe tech support for hours and then they said they'll get back to me not realizing this is normal in PSE 10. I asked to be connected to someone was an expert and familiar with PSE 10. He said he was that person! What a joke!
