Help - "Put" command  doesn't work

I've had problems with the "put" command not working for several years (different computers, OS, and Dreamweaver versions). I click the put option and it doesnt' do anything.

I can usually get it to work by creating a new site from site manager - or putting the entire site. But even those options don't always work.

I've found similar posts, but not a solution.

 

Can someone please explain why Dreamweaver doesn't always like to put and how to get it to work?
