    This would have been a helpful place to explain how to eliminate the grids, and how to ensure that type doesn't align to them when that's undesirable. There is, for example, the option in Paragraphs to have only the first line of paragraphs align to grids, but the same panel should offer a drop-down option to have none do so; for that,one has to go to Paragraph Styles.

    Type does not align to the grid at all by default, so you must actively selecct the option if you want it.
