Hi,
I am having a problem when saving .jpg images to image-files folder. This program seems to have a mind of it;s own. Say if I save a file as cute-little-puppy.jpg and want to save the next image as cute-little-puppy-1, it will abbreviate as cute-lp.jpg. This is happening when I save for the web or save as.
Strange thing is I can work for about 10 minutes saving files as I like then it kicks over to doin it’s own thing?
Adobe Photoshop Elements Language Version: 10.0.0 (10.0 (20110914.m.17521))
Operating System: Windows 7 64-bit
Version: 6.1 Service Pack 1
Windows 7
DW intalled.
Any help will be appreciated!
That is definitely very strange.
Do you only see the new file name on the file on the hard drive? Or is the name suggested in the Save As window? Is this new name in the Tab/Title bar before saving?
Where are you saving files to?
Do you have any third-party plug-ins installed?
Does this happen with other file types?
Hi Brett
Yes very strange.
I would enter the file name as sample-color-blocked-hairstyles-01.jpg
Yes, it showed this in the Tab/Title bar.
When I went to insert the image in DW, I would find only abbreviations of the file name, say sample-color-bl-h.jpg
I was saving files to My Documents/My Site/Image Files.
I place a new folder on desk top and it did the same thing if any image was named with the first say, 5 characters or so.
No other plug ins, the lap top was HP, new and V10 came installed.
I did not try other file types, I found it odd that when I first opened the program it would work fine for about 5-10 minutes and then start
naming things on its own.
I checked the default settings, they were ok.
I was however so mad at losing hours or work time that I returned the Laptop.
Apart from this glitch I found the prgram to be great, I need to resize/crop about 20,000 pictures, lossless.
I was thinking of buying and installing on my main desk top.
I have Adobe Photoshop CS4 installed, would there be a conflict?
Thanks for suggestions Brett,
Alegrio
The renaming seems rather sophicated if it's not merely being cut off at a certain point, but actually having initials kept. Elements doesn't do anything of the sort. There is often an embedded DOS name that is limited to 8 characters, but it's usually the first seven of the name and then a tilde (~).
There would be no conflict with installing Photoshop and Photoshop Elements on the same computer.
