Youtube video position problem

    hi, im experiancing a very similar problem and no suggestions i have seen have so far worked.

     

     

    i have noticed some things about this bug:

     

     

    -not every video does this

    -doesnt occur straight away but around 10 seconds into the video the frame of the video moves to the right so that part of the video is obscured and a black border remains on the left in the same way that can be seen in the uploaded screenshot

    - refreshing the page will cause the same thing to happen at the same point in the video

    -the same problem occurs on all browsers

    -my graphics driver, browser and flash player are up to date

    -going into fullscreen mode does not help

    Have you posted this question over on the YouTube forum to see if they've seen this before?  Does this happen with any other video site?

    Are you zoomed in?  Try holding Ctrl and hitting the - (minus) key a few times.

    @Chris. There is a thread on the youtube forum created by the same person who created this thread. i have commented on this as i have above.

                  I have only ever seen it occur on youtube, but this may be because i mainly only use youtube for video

     

    @Jeromie. Zooming out does cause the frame of the video to return to normal, however this makes the video very small on my screen. and so when i click to watch in full-screen it goes back to the right, out of position again

    The problem is caused by zooming in the page.

     

    So, unless the next update of the flash player fixes this problem I don't think we can do anything about it...

     

    And yeah, the video is so darn small to watch... hopefully this issue will be fixed any time soon.

    Same problem there

    Also not for all videos.

    For me "problematic" videos are playing ok until yellow mark is reached in video timeline bar. And then google-ads appears inside video and video moves to right side.

    I am using latest Chrome on Win7.

    ohhhh of course! its the google ad which causes it, thats why it always happens about 10 seconds into the video

    is there a way to block these adds?

    If I skip the part where ads appear, video anyway moves to right side.

     

    And there google ads appears and no problems caused:

    i actually found the exact opposite to you

     

    the first 2 were normal whilst the 3rd was bugged

     

    however i do experiance the same thing where if i skip past the point in the video where the ad appears the video frame moves

    Okay, I'm not able to reproduce this on any of those links, but I'm on Win7 x64 with Firefox Nightly, 15.0a2, 13.0.1 and Chrome 20 with Flash Player 11.3.300.268.  I'm sure it happens, but it's not happening across all Flash Player configurations.

     

    I'd like to know what browser and OS you're using, and if you're on Windows, I'd like to see the output of dxdiag.

    (Start > Run > Dxdiag, then save the output to a file)

     

    I'd also be curious to know if disabling Hardware Acceleration in either your browser or Flash Player fixes the issue for you.

     

    To disable Hardware Acceleration in Flash, right-click on a SWF and choose Settings

    (Some SWFs have this greyed out.  I use http://www.homestarrunner.com/intro.html all the time)

    Click on the left-most tab and uncheck Use Hardware Acceleration

    Restart your browser.

     

    To disable Hardware Acceleration in Firefox, click Firefox > Options > Options > General > Use hardware acceleration where available

    Did you try zooming into the page and watch some videos?

    Yes.  I spent a bunch of time trying to reproduce.  It's configuration specific.  The details I asked for above would help me build out a system that will hopefully reproduce it.

    I am getting the exact same issue as the OP.

    I only just realised going back to default zoom makes the video fit then did a search and found this thread.

     

    It appears to occur 10 seconds into the video if the page isnt loaded at default 100% zoom

     

    Very annoying as once it has occured it doesnt go away in full screen mode.
