Hi,
I wanted to upgrade the PDF version from "1.4/1.5" to "1.6" using "Acrobat X pro" as mentioned in the screenshot but unfortunately "non-image objects" also compressed when upgrading the PDF.
Screenshot for PDF upgradtion:
So kindly advise any one of the following:
1. How to Upgrade PDF version without "non-image" objects compression?
2. How to identify "non-image" objects compression was applied or not" in a PDF file.
Thanks in advance for your help and support.
Thanks,
Raja. S
Please see the response posted in your other post on the same topic Is it possible to find "non-image objects compression" using preflight in "Acrobat X pro"?.
Hi LoriAUC,
Thanks for the reply.
I just want to clarify that both post are different i.e I wanted to know the "non-image objects compression" using Preflight, so i had asked a question in the post "Is it possible to find "non-image objects compression" using preflight in "Acrobat X pro"?"
But in this post, i had a couple of questions as below:
1. How to Upgrade PDF version without "non-image" objects compression?
2. How to identify "non-image" objects compression as a report using Preflight or in some other ways in Acroabt X pro.
I hope that Acrobat expert will give some useful suggestions for the above.
Thanks for the coninuous support.

Hi,
I have explained my actual problem in detail below. Kindly look into this and share your valuable suggestion for the same:
---------------------------------------------
One of our client requires to upgrade the PDF version to 1.6 without any compression if the input/source PDF is less than 1.6 (input/source PDF: received from client with 1.3 or 1.4 or 1.5 version)
So I had upgraded the PDF version from "1.5" to "1.6" as mentioned in the screenshot above using "Acrobat X pro".
But our client rejected some files (not all files) and said that "non-image objects" compressed in the delivered PDF.
We don't know how they are validating the upgraded PDF after delivery but we suspect that might be in "Acrobat X pro"
---------------------------------------------
Hence I had couple of questions as below:
1. How to Upgrade PDF version without "non-image" objects compression?
2. How to identify "non-image" objects compression as a report using Preflight or in some other ways in Acroabt X pro.
I look forward your favourable response.
Thanks,
Raja. S
Because all PDF files can be expected to compress text and line art, I do not think you will find any options in Acrobat to remove or check for this. (The PDF optimizer will go the other way, compressing page streams which were not compressed).
Because these requirements are extremely unusual, and because Acrobat has no reason to meet them, I think it is entirely proper for you to ask the client how they are to be achieved. They may use custom software both for conversion and for validation.
If the client provides a technical specification for their requirements, you might find it worthwhile to post it here, as it may give more insights into the problem they are trying to avoid.
Hi,
I have asked my client and they have provided some screenshots for both input and delivered PDF for the above mentioned (Page has compressed object stream) issue.

Please look into this and advise your valuable suggestions for the following:
1. How to create these "Preflight" check?
Note: I have tried the same "Preflight" validation in Acrobat X pro (Windows XP), but Preflight result/report is not same
Preflight Rule in Acrobat X pro (Windows XP):
--------------------------------------------------------
Preflight Report in Acrobat X pro (Windows XP):
--------------------------------------------------------
2. How to check and correct "Page has compressed object stream" (customer reported) issues?
Thanks,
Raja. S
Ah, now I understand the confusion. The issue relates to "compressed object streams". These are nothing to do with whether things are images or non-images, but are part of the internal format of the PDF.
You have full control over this in the PDF optimizer under the "Clean up" tab. They are described as "Object compression options". To fulfil this preflight rule, choose Remove compression. Confusingly, this will have no effect on image compression or text or line art compression.
Perhaps the best thing for the profile is if you ask your contact to export a copy of their preflight profile. There are export and import buttons available when going into Edit on the profile.
