Clipping paths from multiple shapes

How to clip in an image in a group of shapes(vector). Eg. Clipping in an image in multiple alphabets may be a name which is a shape.? have tried welding the letters and grouping the shapes nothing helps... please help.

    If I understand what you are asking, you want to know how to put an image into a collection of different vector opbject, using them as a frame to clip the content, such as filling a name with a single image. The general approach is to simply convert the group to a compound path and either Place the image directly, or use Paste Into after selecting the compoound path.
