Why do my cropped photos go to 1 pixel by 1 pixel?

All of a sudden any time I try to crop an image, it moves the crop to 1 pixel by 1 pixel whenever I hit the green checkmark. It doesn't matter how much or how little I crop or what shape. It always becomes 1 pixel by 1 pixel. Any idea why?

    Resetting the crop tool should clear things up.

    Click on the small downturned arrow on the far left of the tool options bar and choose Reset Tool
