What is the most efficient way to manage and migrate my Illustrator workspace and other preferences while working on different computers in the Cloud?
My home computer has Ilustrator CS6 installed and I’m about to customize my preferences and workspaces in the app. If I use my Cloud subscription at my workplace, how do access those same preferences at my workplace? Do I have to manually transfer my user prefs from my library, or is there some Cloud magic to help me out?
I'd caution against using personally license software for ANY business unless you also own the business.
You should be able to migrate the workspave nad preference files from your home installation to any other installation, irrespective of the "cloud". Simply copy the preference files on one system and place them in the same location on another system. Even with a cloud subscription, preference files must reside locally.
Strange. Adobe uses the workplace and home installation backup as an benefit/example for having a Cloud subscription. I do understand that I need to ensure that the licence doesn't leave my hands for other users, and that I can't run the same app on two different computers at the same time.
Perhaps one day Cloud subscriptions will include an option for auto-backing up prefs into the cloud, so that if an installation gets deactivated and reactivated on another computer (like at the workplace), the prefs are still easily accessible.
I'm a freelancer so I need to take my tools with me sometimes.
Wow. The Cloud doesn't even let me manually upload the prefs files for future use. A progress bar appeared during an upload attempt and when finished, read "Upload Complete", but the files aren't there (or at least they are not visibile). So I'd have to carry my prefs around on a flash drive. Hello?!
