I know others have commented on this "issue". I also notice that elsewhere on the web, there are reports of it being a Radeon ATI issue. I've tried repairing links / permissions, tried re-installing the latest Bridge update... All to no avail.
PLEASE help Adobe. My CS5 Bridge is useless now. I'm seriously contemplating restoring 10.7.

Na, ONY-X isn't a mac product. Its freeware though. http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/11582/onyx
Go into maintenance & rebuild launch services. (At your own risk. This solved MY particular issue, maybe different in specific cases).

It was recommended that to fix this Adobe Bridge CS5 crash problem with Mountain Lion, I download the program ONYx. I did this, registered with them, but when I try to open ONYx, I get "unable to open, non approved software because not acquired through Apple store" or words to that effect. Now I am without Bridge.

That does it! If this is the direction Apple is going, I have definitely bought my last Mac.
This is just disgusting! ![]()
I finally found the function (in my Italian program) but hadn't had the chance to read the 870 some pages of the Mountain Lion guide. Most of the afternoon was devoted to solving the problem and, not being a computer expert, I can't devote afternoons to it. That said, the solution to Bridge crashing seems to be simple: open Bridge first, then plug in the camera. The info supplied prior to the purchase of Mountain Lion spoke of excellent features, but I am not aware of having seen anything about this.
The help is greatly appreciated, especially if the situation of the interlocutor is understood.
Resetting the preferences, as you suggested, worked for me, too.
Don't know if this is the case with you, but if I start Bridge first, without downloading photographs, it seems to stay on. Downloading photos may cause a crash, but MAC's image acquisition program works beautifully, and will send things to whatever folder you want.
My Intel iMAC is 2007 or thereabouts, so I don't know whether MAC will be interested in finding a fix for iMAC + ML, but, hopefully, Adobe will.
Reposting myself here:
Have you made your user Library-folder visible in Finder?
I did that in the Terminal and shortly after that the crashes started for me.
I just updated to 10.8.2 and that made the user Library-folder invisible again.
At the same time Bridge started behaving properly.
Not saying that's anything other than a coincidence.
