I am trying to print to my HP printer 4 pages sized 4.25 x 5.5 on an 8.5x11 sheet of paper. I am trying to make notepad paper and want each 4.25x5.5 to match up so when they are stacked on top of one another everything looks right. I am trying to make a border bleed at the top of each page. I have been trying to print the same design but when I print it does not match up. I have selected borderless paper and still does not print right.
I appreciate your help - I have wasted so much ink and paper trying to figure this out!
My old HP printer gives the results I need in borderless printing if in the print dialog I tell it to scale to 97.7%, established by experiment. To avoid wasting so much ink, make test prints of a document that's just a simple line around the perimeter, determine a setting that works for you, and apply that to your design document.
The way most printers which allow borderless printing work is to expand the work slightly to compensate for shift and make sure it has something to print at the edges of the page. Peter was suggesting to print a a slightly reduced size so that when the automatic enlargement kicks in it will be enlarged to exactly the original size.
