CS6: Inconsistent Pica Format Display

I almost always work in Picas; and I just started using CS6, so I've just discovered that Illustrator CS6 has an annoying habit of occasionally — not always— deciding to display Pica units incorrectly. The only common factor is that it's always a whole Pica value, and the last whole Pica is displayed in Points. For example, 5.5 inches should be displayed as 33p0; but sometimes — again, not always — Illustrator CS6 will choose to display that as 32p12.

 

Well, first of all, anything-"p12" is just wrong. It's anything+1"p0," dammit.

 

Secondly, even if there was some insane rationale for displaying "p12," why is it inconsistent? Why sometimes, but not always?

 

Does anybody know what's causing this stupidity? And how to fix it?

 

If not…

    Does anybody know what's causing this stupidity?

     

    Since Illy fundamentally works in points, there is not even any way that it can be some rounding mess up.

    I submitted a bug report, but I'm not sure how much good that'll do because I have no idea how to tell them to "reproduce" the bug.

     

    It doesn't always do it, and it's totally unpredictable -- different objects in the same document might be shown both ways, or even both ways for different measurements on the same object. (For example, a 1.5" x 1" rectangle where the control panel gives its width as 9p0, but its height as 5p12 instead of 6p0.)

    Aelfwin,

     

    I believe (or hope) they will look into the code and hopefully find the issue, and also (automatically) create a large number of objects having whole pica W/H and look at the outcome.
