I am running the latest version of Photoshop CS6 on my mid-2010 13 inch Macbook Pro with 8gb of memory. Mountain Lion is the OS. Whenever I launch CS6 it crashes with the following message: An unexpected and unrecoverable problem has occurred. Bridge opens fine.

Looks like the Lens Profile database is corrupt and causing problems when Photoshop tries to read it and check for updates. (and it tries to throw an uncaught exception on a thread - we're testing a fix for that part so it won't crash)

Sorry, I was reading the code to find the location of the databases/caches.

Try trashing the file ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/CameraRaw/LensProfiles/1.0/pscache.dat

When you next open the LensCorrection plugin, it'll take a few seconds to update the cache and database, then should work as usual.

The crash report says the same thing as the first one, just on a different thread number, so you don't need to repost it.

Hmm, it's the Lens Profile update thread that's throwing an exception. Unfortunately it crashes while trying to recover from the error, not at the site of the actual error.

It could be the index.dat file (one directory level up).
Or it could be an error in the OS URL handling when it tries to get the information from the website. But if that's the case other things would probably be breaking as well.

Darn. So far I can't reproduce the problem by corrupting or removing those files. So I'm really not sure where the problem is really coming from.

Yes, it's one directory level up from the pscache.dat file.

But so far corrupting those files hasn't lead to a crash or error. I'm still not sure how the original error occurs.

cmd-opt-shift on launch, or go delete ~/Library/Preferences/Adobe Photoshop CS6 Settings/Adobe Photoshop CS6 Prefs.psp

No it has not opened. It was activated under Lion and I upgraded to Mountain Lion. Would that upgrade require me to activate again or would it remain activated after the Mountain Lion upgrade?

No, that should not require you to activate again.

I'm at a loss.
We've reset the prefs and the files that feature reads, so I'm not sure what else could cause it to throw exceptions (that wouldn't also cause the rest of the computer to misbehave).

OK. I uninstalled using the Adobe uninstaller then reinstalled CS6. So far it is running perfectly.
