An existing web site: see page sample here- www.fwgraphicdesign.com/GardensatPalisades/index.html does not show the drop down menu items for each menu choice. they work fine in Firefox, Safari, Chrome, but not Vista. What do you sugest, and is there a fix? Pages are created in Dreamweaver 8
Well it works fine in IE8... so we need to narrow this down a little.
First, validate your page code here:
There are 2 major error related to the menu.
Fix those and then test in Adobe Browser Lab to zero in on the exact version of IE that is the problem.

Best of luck!

Well the flyouts look fine in IE8 and 9.... so that leaves possible issues with much older version...6 and/or 7. Their market share is pretty small now a days...
I don't have either of those old browsers so I really can't test... sorry..
That menu looks like it was build around a rather old, convoluted method... may be rather hard to fix. If you really want to target those old IE browsers, then you might want to just redo the menu with straight css.
Tons of free examples on the internet:

Best of luck!

Well, there a couple of things wrong.
Problem #1: Missing document type. Without a valid doc type, the page runs in Quirks Mode which confuses many browsers - especially IE.
Solution:
Problem #2: MM Rollover Menus. Possibly the worst menu system ever created, it's not too surprising that they don't work well in all browsers. You can read the sordid story about them below:
http://losingfight.com/blog/2006/08/11/the-sordid-tale-of-mm_menufw_me nujs/
Solution:
Get rid of the awful MM Rollovers and replace them with a CSS menu system.
Good luck!

When you say this -
That menu looks like it was build around a rather old, convoluted method
You are being too kind. That menu approach (legacy code from Macromedia days) has been thoroughly debunked even by the author of the code (read this to see - http://losingfight.com/blog/2006/08/page/3/).
And when you say -
may be rather hard to fix.
You have understated the case! Get rid of those nasty menus! They have NO redeeming value - really....
Thanks everyone for the responses..this has been a nightmare project from day one..I will most definitely look into Menu Magic...Nothing like inheriting someone elses old files and having to make them work. You all have at least made me realizewhat I have to do.
I appreciate the feedback...took me hours to get to this information. There is not much about it anywhere.
