have downloaded camera raw update 7.1, but have had no luck installing it.

I know that I've done this before....and had some difficulty with it at times...but this it's got me beat.

    And for which program are you trying to update ACR? On which platform? You need to bve more specific.

    trying to install camera raw update 7.1 for photoshop CS5 -I have downloaded the upgrade...but I'm not sure how to unzip it (I have WINZIP I'm unable to move the download to winzip and even if  I did, how do I install in CS5?  I now I sound like an idiot, but for some reason they stopped sending me updates automatically (which you can check with the "HELP" button in PS or the Bridge.)

     

    So, Mylenium...any help you can provide would be appreciated.

    If the file has a .zip extension (or other compressed archive file extension), you just open it with WinZip, then extract the contents.  Most likely there is some .exe file which you can run to install the update.  You may even be able to run it from inside WinZip.

    Camera Raw 7.1 will not work in Photoshop CS5. The last version of Camera Raw for CS5 is ACR 6.7.

    yes thank you...I called Adobe and was informed - ordered CS6 update.   (or I could return the camera - not likely)

    The latest update for  CS5 is ACR 6.7. If the camera you own is not supported in that version, you can download and install the free DNG converter. Convert your files to DNG and you will be able to work with your images in CS5. http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=5388&promoid=D TEHQ

    Windows will open a zip file without any need for a 3rd party application like WinZip.  You need just "Open" the file.
