Please, pleae, HELP!  We have spent hours trying unsuccessfully to download Adobe flash Player 11.3.  We have tried many strategies recommended in on-screen Adobe support.  We will be so grateful if someone will contact us.

Hi! Thanks for replying.

Operating system 32 bit. Windows Vista Home Premium. Service pack2.

Browser- Internet Explorer. Norton Anti-virus.

In the download process, we gave administrator permission, watched the

download bar to completion, then as Installation bar went past half-way, we

got a green check and message that a *newer version has already been

installed.*

When we go to "troubleshooting" recommendations, a box appears which is

empty - no flash player version, no error message. Info provided indicates

that that means we actually do *not *have any Adobe flash player.

On Aug. 3, we first tried the download, and thought it had been

successful. However, we still were unable to view any videos, and received

messages that we needed to upgrade our flash player. In the list of

programs appearing on our C drive, Adobe Flash player 11.3 appeared, but

there were 0 mb of info next to the program title. We un-installed the

program and started again - many, many times unsuccessfully. We also then

un-installed every Adobe product that we had, but were still unable to

complete installation. We successfully re-installed Adobe reader with

absolutely no problem.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

I'm having the same problem.  When I try to play a video I get a error about not having Flash player installed.  Tried installing and got the newer version installed message.  Uninstalled every Adobe program except Acrobat Reader, rebooted, and when I tried to install the flash player again I got the newer version installed message again.

I'm running 64-bit Windows 7 with IE9.

If you work from Chrome you may find that FLASH is loaded automatically.  My computer does not show FLASH anywhere, even when I do a search of my hard drive, yet it is present when Chrome is in play.  I suspect this has nothing to do with anti-virus software and lots to do with Google's Chrome and the parent company interest in creating further dependency.

I certainly not happy with using Chrome, especially when choice is not a part of the game plan.  The objective though is to find a solution for the FLASH issue so that relative happiness can be achived. 

If Adobe wants "happy" customers, it will consider the problem involving Chrome and help those of us who do not want to use Chrome in the long term, deal with this issue.

When you get to the download page for flash player UNCHECK option for Chrome and the install will not include it.

Well, yes that does make sense, except when :

#1 it is like negative billing option ... the default give you something you do not necessarily want, or in some cases (I suspect most) notice or need.

#2 it Chromes seems  to prevent future successful uploads if loaded by mistake the first time round... as would be the case for people reading this discussion

Most of us having problems did not go looking for an FLASH update, rather we were directed to it by one service or another which informed us it was necessary to optimize their service.  In my case I had to update it or not be able to upload pics to a stock site because they had removed all alternatives.  This reeks of some junior "marketing specialist" believing he had discovered an newer and better mouse (aka customer) trap for Google.  It appears to have been was of a code play, than a marketing breakthrough.  The consequence is all sorts of wasted energy and time, not a good thing for any market paricipants.   Both Chrome and Flash now have this added weight on their sales plate.  I had fully trusted Adobe prior to this experience.

It did not work for me.  I believe Chrome has to come out at at the same time FLASH is uninstalled.   There is something in the Chrome ver.  that is uploaded with this FLASH update that is messing things up

The problem appears to be that the update FLASH will not load in Explorer or most browsers other than Chrome.  In my case FLASH was loaded on my computer but not visible even to Adobe's problem search tool, yet when I used Chrome to access a service requiring FLASH, low and behold FLASH was/is there.  I am now running both Explorer and Chrome FLASH works in the Chrome only.    

So, the Explorer browse's automated FLASH interface appears to be a victim of something done between Chrome and FLASH... and that is why Chrome is being talked about

I hate Norton, it has so many tentacles spread out over a person's computer. If you don't mind uninstall it using Revo uninstaller. This program will completely uninstall it. After program is uninstalled click next and it will go back in and uninstall all the bits and pieces that were left over. Then go to adobe and download their flash player uninstaller, use that and uninstall flash player. Then on same page (I think) reinstall flash player. Reinstall Norton. I also use Vista home premium IE8, sp2,OS32bit I also got the same error message that you did before I was successful. "A new version has already been installed" In the forum answers find the reply to me where a lot of links were posted. About 3/4 of the way down is the link that helped me. Sorry, but I'm not on the forum now. Try these directions and write back if you need more help. This Revo uninstaller is a good safe program. Hope this helps.
