flash player not working

my daughter saved flash player to my computer, but it's not working. when i download it again it says that it's already on my computer so i uninstalled it and reinstalled it and it still wont work.

And... what means "wont work"; what exactly happens when you try?

It's Vista and I am using Explorer.   When I try to play facebook games it says that I need the latest flash player but when I download it I get the message that it's already installed on my computer.  I have uninstalled it and then tried to reinstall it and still it doesn't work and I get the message that it's already installed on my computer.
