No Audio Output CS6 after Matrox update

Aug 4, 2012 10:56 AM

Since I updated the driver for Matrox Mini / Max to 7.0.2  I now have no audio output for Adobe CS6 Premiere Pro. Levels are showing up on the audio meter, and the ASIO settings appear to be normal. Did Matrox switch up something. I thought I would ask here. (I exported file and audio is there...so this is just an output connection problem.)

The audio is normally routed through Realtek Digital Output Optical, which is working (audio works with other software.) Adobe ASIO is set to this working output.

I am thinking the Matrox install switched the setting...but thought I would ask here on the Adobe Forum first to see if there is a solution. Since it is a Saturday. Thanks.

Your audio output is probably set to be through the MXO2 audio output - change this to your computer sound card via the setting in the Preferences menu.

This is not the setting.  The one you want is on the Playback tab.  Set audio device to "Adobe Desktop audio" rather than "Matrox Player".

The Matrox setting directs the audio to the audio outputs of the MXO2, the Adobe setting directs the audio to the audio outputs of your sound card.

    Glad to be of help!

Yes, they have changed things with CS6.

Matrox's hand was forced by the changes made in Premiere.  There are all sorts of settings that are now in different places.

This setting is obviously not covered by the Premiere help files, as it is not a Premiere setting.  It is not as clear as it should be in the Matrox User Guide, either.  Page 53 is as near as it gets, and that only tells you how to get the audio output through the MXO2.  You have to infer that for output via sound card, you choose the other setting.  Not good!

What little hair I have left after trying to figure out why I had no sound will now stay thanks to this post. I guess the question I have would be under what circumstances might I want to keep the Matrox Player running through the Matrix MXO2 box?

In order to keep audio and video in synch when using an external monitor - if the connection to the MXO2 uses separate audio and video connections, e.g. s-video.
