Does anyone know how to use Image Capture to scan slides?

I have an Epson Perfection 4870 scanner.

I"m running Lion 10.7.4 and the version of Image Capture is 6.1.

Or what is the best scanning software to mesh with my Epson Perfection 4870 scanner?

Doesn't the scanner use a driver that photoshop can access?

Yikes, how do I find out if the scanner can use a driver that Photoshop can access?

Well, let's see, you could:
read the scanner's documentation,
or you could call Epson to find out, or
you could just install the scanner driver and see if Photoshop sees it (provided you also install the Adobe TWAIN plug-in which is no longer installed by default, but can be downloaded as per below links.).

TWAIN - The TWAIN scanner plug-in is no longer installed with Photoshop CS6, but is available via web download. The plug-in is only available on Windows for the 32-bit version of the application and on Mac OS X for the 64-bit version of the application. I don't really know much about Macs. However on a PC the driver would be a twain or WAI driver, which the manual for the scanner should talk about. When installing the software and or driver on the included CD it should tell you what you need to know.
If its software only, then it would have a way of saving in a format that is usable in photoshop. If its a driver, then take a look under the file menu in photoshop, the import item or automate item should list the driver for youyr scanner.
