won't stop extracting; can't cancel

Aug 4, 2012 6:24 PM

my download assistant has been 'extracting for 2 days' -- i've tried multiple fixes.  can't "cancel"; deleting the download assistant to start over just leads me straight to the unending extracting; download assistant is saved on 'desktop' (not application, which apparently is a problem although that is the default option...)

no error message just this: CS6 Master Collection download: illegal seek

To me it seems like that there is a possibility that the file has become corrupt. It could be during the download, or a bad sector on the hard disc.

Are you able to copy the downloaded file (.7Z and .exe on Windows) to a different location and then double-click the exe file. (On Mac is probably a .app file)

Lets us know what results you get when you copy it to another location and run.

I have the same problem trying to download a trial of Premier Pro CS6. I have tried uninstalling the download assistant and reinstalling and it still won't work. Also I have searched for .app files and im unsure what the file im looking for should be called?

I get error -4960 when I open the download assistant and 105 when I try to re-download.

Please try downloading the software directly by following the process listed at http://forums.adobe.com/thread/981369.

I have the same problem. I'm sure direct downloading will work fine, but this error did arise after downloading over 6 gigs of trial software. How can I ensure that this download is floating around somewhere in my computer wasting space? (I am trying to download a mac version)

Girm1000 if you complete solution 1 in Troubleshoot Adobe Download Assistant - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/troubleshoot-download-assista nt.html#main_Solution_1 you can reset the download experience and remove any cached files.
