When I try to access film clips from the internet, it says that I do not have the current version of Adobe Flash Player. I have a Mac OS version 10.6.8 and Adobe Reader version 10.1.3. I follow the steps to download the new version of Flash Player but it never shows up anywhere on my system.

It installed it on Safari. Can I install it on Firefox also?

If Flash Player is working in Safari, you don't need to install again for Firefox.
