CS4 copy paste turns graphics into text & gybrish characters

Hi, for some reason my CS4 began messing up copy paste command

upon paste it turns graphics into text & gybrish characters, and thext that is pasted loosed fonts, kurn and all formating

Any suggestions?

Does this happen in one particular document/file, or is it a general issue?

In the former case, you may create a new document and move what can be saved.

In the latter case, you may try to look into the following options (presumably, you may skip 1) and 2), 3) is irreversible but easy, 4) is reversible but requires a bit more work):

1) Close down Illy and open again;
2) Restart the computer;
3) Close down Illy and press Ctrl+Alt+Shift/Cmd+Option+Shift during startup;
4) Move the folder with Illy closed;

5) Look through and try out the relevant among the Other options;

Even more seriously, you may:

6) Uninstall, run the Cleaner Tool, and reinstall.

It seems to be a general issue - effects all files and file types.
I tried wat you suggested - still doesnt work. Exccept when I restart and use illustrator without anything else running - then its fine. but the moment browser or anything else is open it starts doing that again. I will reinstall tomorrow. it its seems like some weired memory issue... never happend before - thats the strangest thing. and its not a fresh installon on a new computer. its been stable for a long time.
