Just trying to get my head around working with the discount code

 

IS there anyway at all (using discount codes - NOT SHIPPING) that we can have a free shipping by category or country option

 

EG: A discount code for free shipping in Australia ONLY

 

I know we can do by category etc

 

If we can't - how come?

    Can't you just set any Australia orders to be free shipping in the Shipping Options?

    Oh, I just read again, you wanted without using the shipping settings. Why not use the shipping settings?

     

    I doubt there is a way to do it with discount codes.

    It is just a fathers day offer going out via email to all Aussie dads

    We already have free shipping set up for Australia on other products in the shop as a full time option as well as standard Aust Post and Express

    It's just too messy adding another one.

     

    Also this is a surf shop - so we offer 9 foot surfboards and dashboard hula girls with every product in between so it isn't just a simple one shipping option suits all countries or categories - thus a discount code would be the way to go

    If the email is going out to only aussie dads then you can use the discounts quite easily. Generate the discount code and set it to free shipping and include the code in the email?

    You can also make use of the location option under more options in the shipping and set the dates between start date and end date, then all orders being shipped in Australia during that time frame coulld have no shipping?

    That would be true - however the list isn't segmented to just Aussie Dads - sorry I should have mentioned this

    hmm not a bad option - I will explore this

    I guess the frustration is that the standard and express shipping still need to show up for items that need to include shipping (skatebaords etc)

     

    It would just be nice for it to work the way the others do - free shipping on clothing, footwear and gifts for people in Australia only !!!
