I have been using Illustrator CS3 on a Dell PC for the past four years now and have recently moved to an iMac due to frustrations with Windows issues.
I am very pleased with the iMac in general (i5, 2.7 GHz, 8 gigs ram, MD Radeon HD 6770M 512 MB) and Mac OSX Mountain Lion...
but I am a little surprised with the general performance of Illustrator CS6. I don't think that it runs as smooth as CS3 on my old Core Duo Dell. Dragging objects around the screen, saving files seems slower. Even when turning alignment guides off I still think that it is slower. Just generally more sluggish with screen lag compared to what I have been use to.
Is this what I should expect? Do I need more RAM?
A bit surprised and confused....
You can read this article it is long but it has a lot of good information, especially about cleaning what is called the personal cache files which is what I think is the issue.

Ok, thanks I will read the article.
I have just installed CS6 so it seems strange to start having to clean up files/cache though.
The only thing that I think may be causing a problem is that I have imported some swatches, graphic styles and some old CS3 templates that I had created on my PC CS3 version. But I can't see why that would cause an issue?
