importing excel spreadsheet using nested styles

I'm trying to import a large excel spreadsheet into indesign. The pages all have the same 2 column layout. Each column needs to have a 3 sets of headlines and body e.g

 

HEADLINE1

 

body1

 

 

HEADLINE2

 

body2

 

 

HEADLINE3

 

body3

 

I've imported the excel file which is just two columns (headline & body) with a nested charactor style for both but I can't figure out how to get the body onto a new line with appropriate leading.

I need the headlines and first lines of the body to line up in the pages left and right column.

 

Anyone able to offer any advice?
